welcome fearfully and wonderfully made humans to season two of The holistic counselor podcast I'm Diana and I'm thrilled to kick off this new season with an exciting EP episode today we're diving into a topic that's been incredibly valuable in both my personal and professional life the Myers Briggs type indicator or mbti for those you who might not be familiar with it mbti is a personality assessment tool that helps people understand their own and others personalties types

I will provide a free link to the 16 personalities website in the show notes where you can take the test yourself it's a great starting point for anyone interested in exploring their personality type or understanding others better now let's take a a little let's talk a little about the history of mbti the Myers Briggs type indicator was developed by Katherine cook Briggs and her daughter Isabelle Briggs Meyers during World War II they were inspired by K

Young's theory of psychological types and wanted to make these ideas more accessible to people their goal was to help individuals understand themselves better and improve their interactions with others I found mbti particularly valuable during my time working with teens and public high schools instead of just focusing on their case notes diagnosises and medications I wanted to understand them on a deeper level and Empower them with free tools I aimed to teach them intuition resiliency radical acceptance

and holistic health in mind body and spirit by learning about their personality types I was able to create a safe space for them to heal and feel understood many of these students came from underprivileged backgrounds similar to my own and MBT was a powerful tool to bridge that Gap today I continue to use the mbti as as one of the assessments for new clients alongside the five love languages the Via character assessment and for Christian clients

the shape test which is a spiritual gift assessment the more information I gather about my clients the better I can tailor my approach to serve their unique needs and I will put those links in the show notes as well mbti has been incredibly helpful in my personal life especially in understanding my istp husband known as the virtuoso we've been married for almost 30 years and as an ENFJ the protagonist I used to make I used to

take many things personally once I understood his personality type I realized his behaviors weren't personal attacks this understanding has allowed us to communicate better and strengthen our relationship however being on opposite ends of the spectrum means our marriage takes a lot of hard work from both of us according to the mbti assessment we are quite incompatible which explains why we sometimes need couple therapy and have to work diligently at our relationship honestly it's our faith in

Jesus that keeps us grounded we believe that being true disciples isn't about our happiness but our Holiness and taking up our cross daily that being said I also understand that two people can be in a relationship be totally compatible and still need to see a marriage counselor so I'm not saying that issues in marriage or a relationship have to do with the personality types alone oh and if you've been d noosed with a personality disorder like

Bordine narcissistic paranoid avoidant or others please understand that taking this assessment would be something I recommend only after St St stabilizing yourself if a client came to me with a personality disorder which is an entire different episode I would listen to episode five called Beyond diagnosis unveiling traumas narrative with Dr George Wallace Barnhill that will give you a better understanding on how I view things as a therapist so before we dive into the details of the

16 personality types I want to make sure we keep this brief and engaging so let's quickly go over the 16 personality types each type is a combination of four dichotomies extroversion versus introversion how you get your energy sensing versus intuition how you take in information thinking versus feeling how you make decisions judging versus P perceiving how you deal with the world this combinations these combinations result in 16 unique personality types for example I am an ENFJ

which stands for extroversion intuition feeling and judging my husband is an istp meaning introversion introversion sensing think thinking and perceiving each type has its own strengths weaknesses and tendencies for example my strengths are being receptive reliable passionate altruistic charismatic and being a natural leader according to that test that's what it says and on the other hand here we go my weaknesses yes I have a lot which helps me figure out my blind spots and also helps

me understand the things that I need to continue to work on so here they are it says that I'm unrealistic overly idealistic too selfless sensitive for sure I am struggle to make tough decisions and vulnerable to stress this is why I'm all about that self-care is not selfish understanding these types can help us appreciate our differences and work to work better together whether in personal relationships or professional settings but like any tool mbti has its criticisms

some argue that it oversimplifies personalities or that individuals might use their type as an excuse for bad behavior it's important to remember remember that mbti is just one way to understand ourselves and others it shouldn't be used to pigeon hole or limit anyone this is not a horoscope or a diagnosis to become stuck in in my practice I have found that while mbti can provide valuable insights it's essential not to fix on fixate on it people

are complex and constantly growing and no assessment can capture every Nuance of a person's character just like our biology and uniqueness each client has to want to do the work in therapy for them to grow I'm just a mirror with a lot of tools gathered and with a lot of prayer and my Spidey senses I help my clients depending on what they need all right you're probably trying if you're watching the video figure out who Dorian

Duff is right and I am so excited this is probably why you hear the excitement plus maybe I got a little much caffeine in my system but uh so on this note right now I want you to introduce first of all my guinea pig for the show with the mbti because I made him take the test now that we're working together and secondly uh he is my new producer from Firefly Productions Dorian Duff welcome to the

holistic counselor podcast orian I'm so excited thanks Diane I'm thrilled to be back well I guess this is my inaugural show but thrilled to be with you yeah I know I'm so excited for what the future is going to hold for both of us but anyway can you start by telling us a little bit about yourself your background and how we met uh yeah sure um I guess in just general broad relations um pretty much a

Florida native but born in California um though I may not traditionally look at I am a Hispanic my mom is from Bolivia so ablo espanol um know well yeah we can do Spanish podcasts too if you want um so yeah that being said but yeah born and ra or grew up in Boer Ron since I was five and uh I would call myself a a true Floridian in that sense now um been in the area for

a long time uh and always came back to the area I can say I've I'm pretty well traveled and seen a good amount of the country and I don't think there's another place I would rather live than South Florida um as far as just uh me myself and I in general though um uh new entrepreneur uh something I've always wanted to be um big Sports guy up until somewhat recently uh in regards to always like uh

just playing anything and everything though soccer was my my my true passion um big car guy at the same time though you know times are getting weird in regards to that too we can get into that on another podcast um and yeah just excited to uh to now be producing podcasts uh we met at my old place of employment where I kind of learn the trade um and uh excited to be off my own so did

I I learned you know this that was my first uh EP my first season that's why I'm putting it that way now fir five well tell me a little bit about Firefly Productions um well the name actually comes from a prior uh dream I guess you could say that maybe is just on the back burner for now uh but yeah so I I had this uh this idea of converting Volkswagen Beetles to electric cars and so

that's where the name Firefly came from because I was going to call them fireflies and Firefly Motors and yada yada yada so I had the logo made and and whatnot um fireflies though have always kind of held a little special spot because uh when we used to go up to Northern Michigan when I was a kid in the Summers there was always you know was Firefly Central and that's something that you don't see in Florida so

I always thought that was a really cool uh cool just like yeah aesthetic to be you know it kind of like was the the definition of summer in my eyes if you will kind of like a snowy Christmas morning you know if you were in out by the lake with you know at dusk with the fireflies flying around that it really like uh set the mood um so yeah and then so yeah since I had the

logo and already kind of had the The Branding concept down uh I just figured I'd roll it into this new Venture and uh now I guess the slogan will be when the lights on we're recording I love that you I love it like mine is walking with you to your Mountaintop there you go you know but with firefly production I love by the way the first time I ever saw fireflies was when I came to visit

down here the summer of 1980 so you know I I don't think there my dad still lives in Michigan and he's like you don't it's like they're pretty rare extinguished at this point so I think in the woods when I visit the summer in the woods and the boonies there's a lot they come oh they're still around oh yeah but I think it's because they need nature just like all you know nature needs nature to to

survive in but that's that's podcast in itself all right so I made you take the because I'm like all right if you're gonna be my producer you did I hope you didn't expect me to remember my results because I have them okay good I have them right here but but I wanted just to just because when someone usually they s give this to you like in col Coles in high school to figure out your career but

call taking in in high school I'd actually be curious as to how different those answers are to it could be or not but usually like people will take it over and over at different times in their lives some one letter might change or something but honestly like it it can change depending on what's Happening I guess but it's like the core of who you are your personality because if you think back well let's go to what

was your outcome do you remember the four letters no no I remember I think I got like understanding as like my final definition right that's one of your weaknesses Dorian unfocused no I'm just kidding okay you tell me you tell me what it's an ENFP is what you told me it was ENFP right and uh so it was C the campaigner okay do you remember anything about after you took it were you surprised were you like

hey I mean you're married right I am yeah so did you show your wife and say Hey listen these are my weaknesses so I need you to help me no you never show your weaknesses oh dor so okay so you took them mbil you you found out you were an NFP en NFP um but you you can't share so here are some of the strengths and here are some of the weaknesses all right according to the

test and hopefully if you took it right I want to see if if you're like yeah that sounds like me that sounds like me we're just going to go with the strength because honestly that's all I printed out it says that do you want to go with your strength or your weak because this is no that's all I want to hear anyway I want to hear about my weakness no because okay just joking hey anyone listening

like if you were actually my client I would not be this this boisterous because you know that would scare you away but I would if you although some people might like it though that's true and I will be able to tell because you know you have to build rapport in your first session and some people can't can't take it at that moment it depends on how they're coming to me right like if they're in deep depression

it's you know I'm just happy that they showed up no and even just even touching on that real quick like you know I think I I think that it's safe to say we've all been there but you hear these terms like deep depression and stuff and I don't know that a lot of people would even know what that necessarily means or what it looks like uh and I don't I would guess I've probably been there as

well you know um yeah but I you know I guess we'll find if this test will uh share anything about my resilience to any sort of negative feelings but well that's it like this is why I have clients take these assessments that I mentioned earlier is because I want to gather a lot of information and and remember they're hiring me to do a certain um service for them and so it's like I don't want to take

these assessments I know what I you know and I'm like all right that's cool but you know here's how I work as well you have to build rapport because some people have had bad therapeutic experiences you know and I'm not everybody's cup of tea so with with this so this is exactly what I would do I was like which one would you want to listen to First would you want to be a go through your strength

actually no let's start with the negatives then all right because then we end up with the strengths which is you know that's a good place to end you know but okay so weaknesses you know because now you're being vulnerable and whoever is listening is going to know your weaknesses just don't use it against him or actually you were work in therapy you would work on these weaknesses I would give you tools to help you with them

and then that's something we could keep working on until you realize those are the blind spots because no one's perfect and we live in a culture where where perfectionism and capitalism and all these isms are there constantly attacking your brain and to understand who you are more and more and having your own um non-negotiables and and boundaries is really important in any relationship not only you as a husband or a business owner or a friend or

a son or a father you have to once you understand other people don't think like you or you know like that's one of my blind spots that's what you know my therapist said oh now I'm not going to take it personal now I know what to do here's the tool that they gave me you see where I'm getting then you become well-rounded and having this and it's it's a kind of like a relief because sometimes people

come in with anxiety or depression right that's mostly what in and those are symptoms even I guess I just don't really live in my own head though right okay so let's go to your weaknesses well that's gonna be one of my weaknesses lives too much in his own head well here we go people pleasing uncomfortable with being disliked make compromise on important matters what do you think of that weakness uh yeah fact uh pretty non-confrontational and

and uh if it's if that's what it's going to take to just like all right f it move on then yeah I'll go with the flow even if it's not my my decision or cup of tea yeah but see with that though it's like how can we build where you are able to stand up for yourself or you understand that because it will process in your body right someone that's a people pleaser all of a sudden

feels it or it's like and then that's a stress a stress that can cause discomfort and not saying that we don't like we need discomfort in this world if we were so comfortable all the time how boring would that be in life no I mean it just the world wouldn't work I don't think and that's why we are the way we are exactly exactly so it's like we would figure out people pleasing why would you why

what what makes you say that like where has it been in your life where it really got you mad but you weren't able to express it was that learn behavior is that just part of your personality is it because you didn't sleep right you see you're a holistic being so we would touch in all these places okay here's another one unfocused ever ever evolving interest can make maintaining discipline and focus challenging uh yeah that's probably pretty

true yeah um I I always get a lot of ideas maybe I don't see them all through yeah and so when I say weakness I don't want to you know even though it says strengths and weaknesses it's just getting to understand like okay I don't so do you want to improve that part of you because you can't improve all of it at all times because no one's perfect and no one will ever be perfect but that

could be something causing you a little bit of angst right a little bit like your wife or someone a boss is saying come on you need to focus and you're just like what the freak and then you're like there's something I'm broken I have a broken brain and it's not about that it's understanding Who You Are and how we can come up with some tools and stuff to help you with that all right yeah that one's

that one's a long time I've always been a procrastinator and yada y y so yeah but now you understand there's uh probably millions of people like you with that personality right oh it's it's it's this test actually makes when I give it to some people that come in with a lot of anger or depression and then I'm like no like this is part of who you are and they're like oh my gosh I'm not totally broken

I'm like no you're not like there's ways to fix these areas if you want or you could just tell the world to you know well I think to me it's it's wild that there are people that get so hung up on themselves you know that would think that yeah there's something like wrong with me for that reason or something like that well here's a perfect example Dorian if you were have this personality ENFP and then you're

raised maybe in a with no reason resources in an with abusive uh parental units that are misunderstanding and they're telling you you're unfocused you're unfocus what's wrong with you okay you have this you have that oh here's your pill you see where I'm getting at and then school system that might not understand it either or systems around you and then you just keep beating yourself up going oh my gosh there's something wrong with me there's something

wrong with me there's and then you start believing those narratives interesting yeah and so then you realize like okay like oh wait where did this story come from where why am I believing this is it you know is it because it is part of how I am but like I'm being misunderstood I mean that's you know that could be a lot like B you said I think that yeah I've never been unfortunate enough to have the

negative drivers you know so yeah I I can imagine that that would be a different story yeah yeah Dorian see and so like this is why I like talking about this this test assessment because it it makes people you know challenges thoughts and behaviors of our culture at this moment as well so let's go to the because we're almost done with the list of negatives so we could get to the a short list he works too

hard he loves too much oh here that's going to be Pro probably some of your strengths but let's go to number three disorganize Focus on Big Picture often overshadows attention to Everyday practical matters fact yeah and so uh overly accommodating tendency to say yes to others requests leading to overc Commitment yeah okay goes back to the people pleaser and also I think that's why too I mean I not to say I've had a long uh career

and Hospitality but it's always been customer service or some sort of customer facing role so yeah it's always like oh what can I do to make your experience better I know I mean and that's what one of the things I love about you because you have the well we're gonna go into your strengths but you have that ability to really work with the human no matter where they're from no matter what and I mean I have

that that's one of my favorite things too is I love helping people and stuff like that even if it is at my like yeah even yeah my uh my downfall but yeah well that's why we would learn to balance that right even though okay uh over because we want not to be overly anything for sure okay so accommodating is cool but according to the weakness it's a weakness because it's overly done um overly optimistic Rosy Outlook

can lead to naive decisions and difficulty accepting hard truths yeah like I don't lock my car doors okay well now they have your name they can figure out what dude better start locking your car door dud so yeah there's the naivity na Nativity anyway there's the naiveness yeah all right okay so we're gonna start locking your car doors that's something that I would have you do as a therapist like honestly if that's something like that cause

tension at home or whatever that's oh huge tension my wife hates it okay yes so because she might feel like you and I'm just assuming here which is I always say don't ever assume but it's if in a relationship because I it's my perfect example too with my husband with his weaknesses and my weaknesses and his strengths and it's like wow I I feel like you don't love me and you don't want to keep me safe

because you won't lock the car door especially like if you have a garage and then you have a garage opener in there you see where I'm getting at and then well okay so that's a funny one too because uh we have a garage there's a door obviously into the house from the garage but there's a door into the garage from the outside as well that's locked and the garage is closed obviously but my wife will always

double lock the door into the house from the garage and I'm just like why they would have to get through two doors and again who's they it is okay well this is a whole another podcast when we talk about get that femininity the female brain and what we have to worry about comparatively to what a male has to worry about that's a whole different Dynamic well and also you know kind of going back to uh the

the driving factors from possibly when you were younger I mean I grew up my parents never locked the door of the house at night you know yeah my husband either and he had the keys in the car like in just ready like nothing locked he grew up in the country of like North Carolina I grew up in Queen New York in in poor area and so Rosie Boer at own you know nobody yeah yeah well well

things are changing down here in South fact yeah yeah all right so um and then Restless that was the last one inner idealism can create a nagging feeling that some areas of life aren't good enough yeah never s yeah right and so this is the weaknesses that you know if you were in my office and we were work on that because some people want to grow in the like people Cod a therapy for so many different

reasons Sometimes they come in and they're doing great and it's like preventative measures like I just want to get better and I don't know everything and neither do I but I have a lot of tools because I've been doing this for a long time so let's go with your strengths ready let's get to the good stuff actually these are probably going to end up being weaknesses too so let's let's get no good ious right finds Beauty

and Fascination in nearly anything imaginative and open-minded very true yeah curious like that's a beautiful thing to have perceptive sensitive to others feelings and needs can pick up on subtle shifts in mood or expression yeah for the most part I'm usually pretty in tune with with people or their Cadence or you know those little subtle giveaways of how somebody might be feeling yeah I mean I bet you anything you probably could go cuz I have that

too where we could go into a place a group of strangers or people and right away you could pick up their energy like oh that guy is sad or that one's mad or that one is like you know you know what's a what's a funny scenario I've always dreamed of as like being trapped in an elevator with like five random people and then like you know working together to you know or like having one of those

scenarios just to see like as a experiment to see like if if I could help or hurt in a way right yeah no I mean the only way I think with the personality what I've read is that you would just hurt yourself more than anything yeah exactly I would just say yes and agree to everything according to the weaknesses i' want to be the leader but then I would just get overruled yeah like okay that's fine

you know and then like all right what can I do what can I do what can I do but it's it's those things where you would have to be aware in yourself what is it causing in you because if you're you're taking care of yourself and I'm talking about holistically right your personality is your personality it's just when things become overwhelming or unbalanced is when those weaknesses will come to the Forefront big time and that's when

you have to realize like oh I have to put on my brakes and take care of me because if not you go into these like rabbit holes or you're wanting you know you feel the pain like the anger or the sadness whatever or the pain and then you're self-medicating without realiz yeah and then I usually bottle that up too you know right and then you have to figure out okay what's going on and then it it

snowballs and that's the thing about therapy is like we're trying to and then yeah and then there's that strength of find beauty so it's just like yeah even as miserable as I may be I'm just like find beauty find beauty find beauty true true and that's the resiliency okay enthusiastic shares imaginative and inspiring ideas with eagerness here we are yes we are I know I'm telling you we we have one letter missing we are we're very

compatible in this working relationship I'm telling you right now but I had to learn how to because just because of my background how because I'm imaginative and creative and I love that stuff Thinking Out of the Box just like you in that manner but I had to learn how to be on time and you focused and and not so selfless anymore or and I had to learn to be realistic and that's what I'm saying like those

are the things I had to and I continue to work on to make sure that I realize like okay I know I'm able to go to this area which is not helping me or my family or the people around me how do I get better on that all right so back to you sorry um excellent communicators capable of positive and enjoyable conversations with a wide range of people yeah uh I'm probably not the best Communicator of

my own feelings but I do enjoy trying to help others with their feelings yeah because I'm just going to give them the be positive speech yes there's nothing you know okay and then easygoing very spontaneous light-hearted finds fun and joy in the present moment yeah okay good natured and positive warm-hearted approachable altruist spirit and friendly disposition so if I have cash on me I'll give the dollar to the homeless man you know right and so those

things are the are your strengths right like this is what makes you really good at your job thank you yeah it makes you really good when you're in an environment with um a lot of different unique people so those are the strengths and those come so easy so the strengths come come easy to us so whoever is listening you take this test you understand your strengths come super easy because it's the natural flow of who you

are it's the weaknesses though that either annoy the other humans that you become in a relationship with right the weaknesses are the ones that we like when I used to do marriage counselor counseling I would have them talk about the or when I used to do family therapy like I would make the parents take the test and the kids and then I would you know I would uh they would have a stick or something that they

would have to hold on to and they are the ones who are allowed to speak because had to be a respect issue and then when of course everybody wants to be right the parents will start because you know people are hurting and they're not wanting to look within themselves and I'm like okay let's remember you know but see my thing is like I think no matter what happens in any scenario you have nobody to blame but

yourself well you could I what I've come to understand Dorian doing this job for quite a while and studying a lot and being with you know helping hundreds and hundreds of humans is that I think we to heal sometimes we have to go from victim to Victor to process each part of that situation depending on what is you know the situation that caused you to come to therapy in the first place because most people go to

therapy for for what not because they're feeling good uh court order oh yeah those were the fun ones I've been in private practice now for like three and a half years so it's or four years and uh because I was working at a school and you're right I worked with a lot of DJ Department of Juvenile Justice uh teenagers and you're right court order just sign my thing yeah yeah be beep you know and I'm just

like no I actually care and I want to you know I actually am uh you know too selfless and over idealistic so it's like no no we're going to sit here and and try yeah but you're right court order and that's you're right that's the choice that they get to make so we all have free will we all have choices the question is now like now that you've learning a little bit about your personality right um

and you have these strengths such as being enthusiastic creative sociable how do you think that these strengths will help you in your role as a producer in Firefly Productions um well this is a very people focused and uh you know service oriented I think uh business so that being said I'm I'm looking to provide people with the service as easily and free flowing as as possible and come with a creative Edge to it as well okay

so here's a harder question now that I know right because it's like I'm we're in this collaborative um production together right you're my producer I am counting on you on things right and hopefully other people will hire you it'll be Word of Mouth depending on the work that you do how are we going to utilize the weaknesses so you become better and not be disorganized unfocused you see I'm getting at and well since you know me

so well I knew that you would be a great person to kind of hold my nose to the grindstone in regards to deadlines and whatnot so so yeah that being said I think uh you know I think between us this will be the great tell of can this uh business continue to grow yeah but but as you learn see that's the beauty of understanding relationships no matter what it is is having the respect of of okay

here are the strengths and here are the weaknesses and how do we come together to make something good for the greater good right Ian I mean that's what it's all about at the end of the day you know and that's you know I think uh the whole world needs to revolve around that that saying more than ever you know yeah especially now right especially when we see so much negativity and you know so it's it's it's

just getting to the place of um just that understanding of who you are and your resiliency so what does that that word resiliency mean to you I think just being able to get back up from no matter what the situation you know never to be able or never to to uh get down on yourself to be able to take criticism and and use it constructively and uh and yeah just never let never let anybody be able

to bring you down yeah anybody or anything necessarily I mean it's a it's a it's a long life feels like a long long road but it's you know it's really not at the end of the day and so to I think to to harp or dwell on anything that makes you feel negative or or bad uh is is kind of silly and that you always need to look at the glasses half full because it is yeah

but we honestly I guess because I have worked with this and different personalities and studied it and had different clients come in with that half glass empty right yeah there is yeah know and well I don't know I mean like I said I think I've I've been there for sure in my life but uh it just it doesn't get you anywhere it's just like you know I tell my my kids now it's like crying is not

the right response because what's that gain you you know you might feel good to to let it out for a second but that gets you nowhere so like let's think of of uh resolution or or you know ways to not have whatever got you down happen again or you know it's just all about working through things it is working through but it's also respecting where a person's at right because we want to because sometimes what happens

when something's happening to some especially us that are um over you know overly accommodating or op optim especially the overly optimistic ones like you know like what's the problem like can't you see like this is and that's where the disrespect in a relation ship will happen and the misunderstanding and the breakdown of communication and then you're you're hurting the other person just by what you're saying without listening because we we have listening to respond and then

we have listening to understand well then like it it kind of goes to your coping skills too because like I guess my optimism is just I'm so pessimistic that I have to be optimistic yeah like if I'm not optimistic it's just like oh well it's all it's all crumbling anyway so what's the point of anything you know you so well that that's okay that's we can get real nihilistic real quick yeah and then so that's where

it's the you're right it's about having the coping tools the co the skills the understanding and being responsible for yourself yeah because otherwise what's the point of doing anything I guess yeah but that that's what I'm saying like as a therapist I get people from all walks of life they're in the beginning of that journey of trying to finally I mean I mean think about this like I I don't well first of all if you have

like a narcissist coming in and that's like the key this is that these are these words are being utilized in Tik Tok and social media so much you know I had a dollar for every time I've been drama all those things which honestly there are people with that personality disorder but it's not everybody has it we all actually in this culture I think it's it's it's healthy to have a little narcissism no it's it's well confidence

is one thing right confidence and being like sure about what your we your strengths are and your weaknesses knowing that you know who you are that's one thing but narcissism is when you are so blinded by your wanting to intake so much stuff for you and it's all about you and how do I manipulate that person to get what I want and you know you don't care about anybody else but you then that's a problem right

and so so how did we get on this subject because now we're but it's personalities different oh yeah having yeah being optimistic yeah and then well having different personalities is just learning how to take that step back and realize like anyone in your family or you know usually people start reacting to personality conflicts due to not having the skills to communicate well or past hurts that are stored in the subconscious and all sudden reminds you of

something or you remember that feeling and and now I'm going to fight you know or you just decide to go into your shell and pretend it's not happening and I'm ignoring it and everything's okay rosecolor glasses but I think ideally throughout your life you're evolving and hitting kind of almost all those Nails on the head right I hope so that's what we're supposed to do we are supposed to be evolving we're not you know I remember

when someone's like wow you changed a lot and they it sounded like they were trying to put me down like you're not the same person and I'm like good I don't want to be the same person that I was yesterday I want to grow I want to be the best version of myself that I possibly could be on this side of Earth you would that be the goal for anyone should be but so many people are

stuck yeah some many people but they don't know how they don't know what to do and they're scared and that's the fear and fear you know that's why I think uh I have a lot of respect admiration for your profession and and what you do because at the end of the day it's like you have the most fulfilling job and in a way that allows you to to help people that may not even realize they need

help you know yeah times it's fulfilling if the client decid for the outside Layman uh it sounds pretty hunky dory but yeah no it all depends on if the client chooses to do the work you know what I mean because I there's no magic bullet there isn't right no matter what I don't even care if you're going to a medical doctor it's still a holistic approach of understanding that you have responsibilities for yourself some people get

stuck in blaming blaming blaming which I sit with them with that and then try to process and and challenge the thoughts to get them to the next level of healing but that's just that's for another but it is about like opening up your mind to the fact that like you're not in this rut forever although it may have been a year it may have been years like it's that's not forever right right all right so as

we wind down this episode and we get you know introduced you as my new producer and season two and everything um so what are your thoughts about this whole mbti and uh using this tool no uh well you brought my wife up so now I'm kind of curious to see what her score would be if I give it to her so we should maybe do that on a followup and get the get us both on here

or something um but no I I think it's uh I think it's great uh you know it did jog the memory back to when I took it in high school and uh and at the same time you know I think I was telling you where it's like with those not repetitive questions but how they kind of reward questions you know you you almost think like you're trying to game the the the test you know like oh

I can I can beat this test and get the results that I would want you know but uh but no it's it's not necessarily true and it does hit the nail on the head it's not like it's not like everything we talked about wasn't kind of true it was just like the first time I ever read a horoscope book and you know for Sagittarius it's like oh okay well yeah I don't really believe in it but

that's spot on right well with this test though if you're like whoever's listening if you're going to take the test I would you you have to go with your first instinct not what you think the therapist or the teacher or no just answer off the cuff yeah right off the cuff right with especially since I was like I haven't done a test in years I'm just going to run through this thing yeah and just your first

thought your first you know because there are people I mean there's some questions that were like brutal like that are like whoa like do you like to watch people argue you know well someone's not gonna everybody wants to be this good person right so No One's Gonna neutral neutral neutral neutral yeah no Neal be honest all right so using tools like mbti can provide valuable insights into one's strength and weaknesses helping individuals understand themselves and others

better it's beneficial in creating goals for therapy and fostering better communication in relationships however it's important to use mbti as a guide rather than a definite definitive label some criticisms like I said before include the risk of oversimplifying personalities or using the assessment as an excuse for bad behavior please do not do that as part of the therapeutic process I often recommend clients watch funny and insightful videos by Frank James which I'm going to send you

Frank James's he's hilarious I love him he's clean friendly or listen to the personality hacker um podcast so there's a podcast where this these two people and that's all they've studied and that's what they talk about just how to help you careers what happens in relationships and I I utilize those tools depending on the age or what the client needs and sometimes I'll just s Hey listen to this podcast and we'll talk about it next time

you know and then they're like wow I did not know like I wrote down questions and I want to know more about this so um these resources can make learning about personality types enjoyable and relatable so I will put those in the show notes so Dorian do you have any final words for our audience and how can they find out more about your company Firefly Productions um final words uh yeah I don't know peace on Earth

live long and prosper you know uh keep it positive okay uh yeah I don't know I'm not hugely insightful for final words that's all I would say um it's a long life and the more you enjoy it the better it is you know don't get down on what may seem like a big problem generally never is so uh I guess that's what I would leave people with in my professional coun experience um so how can they

find Firefly Productions if they want to get in touch with you right now you can find me on Facebook Firefly Productions um um if you ever want to just email me just Dorian Duff gmail.com and that's it all right all that information will be in the show notes so well thank you Dorian for being vulnerable sharing and lifting the show to a whole new level with your strengths as an ENFP I'm excited to see what God
